Can children learn to read in just 15 minutes a day, five days a week?

The local early education nonprofit program was created in combination with the state legislature and it costs families nothing.

Columbus City Schools said it’s offering a new pre-k program that hundreds of families can benefit from and it’s online. It's called Waterfrod Upstart.

“Children utilize our program for 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week," Fischer said. "The program is adaptive, so it figures out where the child is having difficulties. It hones in on that until the child masters it.”

Getting your child up to speed with reading, writing and arithmetic before kindergarten starts is the goal of an early education non-profit in North Dakota. 

A national non-profit is helping South Dakota families prepare their children for kindergarten through a free learning service.

In an effort to address the achievement gap now and at an early age, the state is providing funding to an education nonprofit to help with equity and access that's contributing to the growing issue.
