About Kim Fischer
A Trusted Partner in High-Stakes Communications
I’ve spent more than two decades working at the intersection of journalism, executive leadership, and strategic communications. In that time, I’ve learned clarity, credibility, and trust are not accidental, they are built deliberately.
I began my career as a journalist, where I learned how stories are shaped, how messages are interpreted, and how quickly trust can be earned or lost. That perspective continues to inform my work today. I understand how communications land externally because I’ve been on the other side of the questions. Over the years, I’ve led communications and storytelling efforts inside complex, mission-driven organizations. I’ve partnered closely with CEOs, founders, and senior leaders during moments of growth, change, and scrutiny, helping them communicate with confidence and integrity.
How I Work
I work as a strategic partner who stays involved through execution, helping leaders and organizations translate strategy into communications that are usable, aligned, and sustainable.
I work closely with executives and teams to ensure communications are understood, adopted, and applied consistently across the organization. A critical part of this work is identifying and shaping the stories leaders and teams use every day to explain who they are, what they do, and why it matters.
Depending on the engagement, my work may include:
-
Developing core messaging, narratives, and brand foundations
-
Identifying and codifying the stories that bring brand and strategy to life
-
Training executives and teams to communicate clearly, consistently, and on brand
-
Building or restructuring marketing and communications teams
-
Advising on agency selection, scope, and readiness
-
Identifying the marketing and communications materials needed to support credibility, growth, and alignment
Where appropriate, I also help organizations thoughtfully integrate AI into their communications workflows. This includes developing clear brand inputs, voice guidelines, and guardrails so AI tools support consistency and efficiency without diluting judgment, tone, or trust.
I train leaders and communications teams on how to use AI effectively within a defined brand and storytelling system, increasing output while maintaining clarity, credibility, and alignment.
While I do not provide visual design services, I help organizations define what materials they need, how those materials should function, and what to look for when engaging designers or agencies. This ensures that brand, communications, and storytelling efforts are grounded in strategy, not guesswork.
My approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded in real-world experience. The goal is not more ideas, but communications that actually work.
Experience & Perspective
My background includes senior leadership roles in communications and marketing, as well as earlier work in journalism. I have been responsible for storytelling, executive messaging, media strategy, thought leadership, internal communications, and team development.
This blend of experience allows me to support leaders not only in what they say, but how they show up internally and externally.
